Joy Park
Clinical Intern – CMHC Candidate
Joy Park joins Know Thyself Healing & Therapy as a Clinical Intern while pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adler Graduate School. She believes that every person deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling life, even when difficult experiences or circumstances make it hard to see a path forward. She views reaching out for therapy as an important first step and strives to meet each client with compassion, curiosity, and respect.
As a Korean-American, Joy values creating a welcoming and culturally responsive space where people from all backgrounds can feel safe being themselves. She believes meaningful change begins with a genuine, trusting therapeutic relationship and takes a person-centered, multicultural approach to counseling. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method, she works collaboratively with each client to understand their unique experiences, needs, and goals.
Joy draws from several therapeutic approaches, including Attachment Theory, Adlerian Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She has a particular interest in understanding how early relational experiences and trauma can influence the way we see ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. As Joy puts it, “Your past and present may be more interconnected than you realize.” She believes healing can involve both processing experiences from the past and developing practical skills to navigate challenges in the present.
Joy has experience working with preschool-aged children in a day treatment setting and providing online crisis counseling through Crisis Text Line. As she continues her clinical training, she welcomes the opportunity to work with individuals of different ages and backgrounds while expanding her experience and developing her skills as a counselor.
Joy sees clients In-Person (Minnetonka) or via Telehealth
Joy is working under supervision of Kimberly Ostman, MA, LPCC.
