Elliot Shively, BA

Elliot is a pre-licensed therapist working towards her MSW and LICSW in graduate school at the University of St. Thomas, school of social work. Elliot also attended St. Thomas for her undergraduate degree, majoring in psychology.

Elliot has always known she wanted to be a mental health therapist. Her personal experience with mental health, specifically anxiety, combined with her big heart and natural care for others well being and confidence, drives her certainty that anyone seeking mental health services can find a direction in their life to be their best selves. Elliot believes communication, building trust, and enabling openness leads to favorable outcomes within therapeutic relationships.

Elliot’s favorite graduate course, Assessment and Diagnosis, focused on the importance of helping clients with mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, attachment relationships and abandonment, trauma, and other related mental health concerns.

Work in family interventions, loss and grief, and trauma are all classes Elliot is looking forward to entering her second year of graduate school. Elliot has also read extensive articles on attachment styles and feels particularly drawn to helping individuals overcome childhood trauma and fractured relationships.

Elliot’s mental health experience includes work as a cognitive brain trainer at LearningRx, communicating and training students who have lower cognitive abilities, ADHD, and depression. Through directional activities, confidence building, and engagement skills, Elliot was able to lead all students to success.

Elliot has worked at Hopkins summer school, Royal Learning Academy, for students aged Kindergarten-5th grade who have emotional and behavioral concerns and attachment issues. Elliot looks forward to working with children, teens, as well as adult clients.

She looks forward to working with clients at Know Thyself Healing and Therapy to gain a deeper understanding of mental health, through working directly in a leading clinical therapy setting helping individuals to be the best version of themselves.
